The Gaviota Group Announces Projects in Jardines del Rey

The president of Gaviota, Carlos Latuff Carmenate, revealed the projects of that Group at Jardines del Rey, where the 35th edition of the International Travel Fair is taking place. Furthermore, he extolled Meliá International, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of its operations in Cuba.
Jardines del Rey is a developing destination for Gaviota Group, Carlos Latuff Carmenate, president of this Group, underscored during a presentation with key executives from the main hotel groups based in Cuba, before the beginning of the International Travel Fair (FITCuba 2015).
In this travel destination Gaviota features 6 hotels and 2, 943 rooms, a number that will go up with the opening this year of Iberostar Playa Pilar Hotel and another 1,000 hotel rooms by 2017.
According to Mr. Latuff, all of the Group’s enterprises are growing stronger in Jardines del Rey: Gaviota Tours has been the inbound agency since 2012, Marinas Gaviota is going to strengthen is presence with 300 docks and a dolphinarium in Bautista cove, Transgaviota’s fleet is going to be enhanced and AT Comercial will build its laundry in the territory.
Moreover, the Group is working on the renovation of the existing facilities, for instance, Playa Coco Hotel —which hosted the presentation— was inaugurated back in 2004 and it’s presently undergoing a refurbishment process. This facility, along with Playa Cayo Santa Maria, Playa Costa Verde and Playa Pesquero, make up the Hotel portfolio of Gaviota’s Playa brand.
Different aspects have been improved in Playa Coco Hotel, such as the remodeling of the Buffet Restaurant, lobby, most of the rooms are soon going to be ready, gardening and a group of changes that bring the product up to date in line with the latest trends.
Mr. Latuff underlined that the Group currently features over 24,000 rooms and the plans aim at doubling that figure in the short term. He also explained that Fitcuba 2015 coincides with the 20th anniversary of Gaviota Tours agency, which along Transgaviota, Marinas Gaviota and AT Comercial –the enterprise in charge of supplies and basic provisions for Gaviota – makes up the Group.
The President of Gaviota detailed that Gaviota Tours’ product portfolio – excursions, circuits, health and nature specialized programs – has been renovated and it evolves as a more attractive offer; while the Tourism Squares opened by the Group, with spa, restaurants, stores and night clubs, are the perfect complement for recreation and enjoyment in Varadero and the keys of Villa Clara and Holguin.
On the other hand, Transgaviota is growing and improving its fleet with state-of-the-art buses, microbuses and rental cars. Furthermore, the high-quality nautical product is being diversified with ships to enjoy fishing, diving, sailing and the classic Crucero del Sol excursion.
The Group is also working to obtain supplies according to the hotel standard at international level; and the initiatives of the competition in Mexico and the Dominican Republic are being reviewed so as to have a great tourism destination, Latuff said.
During his keynote speech, the President of Gaviota also thanked foreign hotel groups that have stood by the Group, especially Meliá Internacional that celebrates its 25th anniversary in Cuba. Latuff also thanked the tour operators that began to work with Gaviota and airlines that “have made our dreams come true in emerging destinations, along with tour operators and charter flights or regular routes”, he expressed.
