Iberostar Readies for Jamaica, Caribbean Resort Openings
Spanish hotel chain Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will open two properties in Jamaica by the end of year, bringing to 16 the number of resorts in its Caribbean and Mexico portfolio.
Iberostar has eight properties in Mexico, five in the Dominican Republic and one in Jamaica, and plans to unfurl its flag in Puerto Vallarta by 2011, according to John Long, vice president, sales and marketing.
Opening in October is the 319-unit Iberostar Suites Rose Hall, followed by the 295-suite Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall in December, both in Jamaica’s Montego Bay area. The company’s existing 366-room Iberostar Rose Hall Beach resort is adjacent to the two new properties.
Also opening in December is the 274-suite Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The resort’s 18-hole golf course will open next April.
The company also launched the Grand Collection in 2007 with the Riviera Maya property. The concept is adults-only resorts with butler service, a variety of dining options, spas and luxury.
The Grand Collection includes the Grand Amazon cruise ship that offers luxury cruises on the Amazon River. Iberostar has three resorts in Brazil and will open a fourth in October.
