Investors Plan $140 Million Hotel Project in St. Kitts
Construction of a $140 million hotel project in Whitegate, St Kitts area is set to begin in less than six months time says government officials. The project is expected to employ more than 1,000 workers in the height of construction and add another 1,000 rooms to the island´s accommodation stock.
According to Valmiki Kempadoo, one of the investors of the Kittitian Heights Resort, the development is expected to boost the socio-economic sector of St. Kitts/Nevis by employing another 1,000 persons to operate and manage the resort.
“This resort, when it´s fully built, will have injected more than $140 million and we also have a tremendous amount of confidence in the positioning of St. Kitts tourism market and in the government,” he added.
“This resort will commence construction no later than six months from now and we expect the entire resort to be built within six years from its commencement,” Mr. Kempadoo told government officials and the media at the signing ceremony of the project development last week.
Describing the plan as a “landmark project for St.Kitts,” Mr. Kempadoo said it will be very different from the normal sun, sea and sand resorts that exist around the Caribbean.
“We´re attempting to develop a resort that is inclusive, not exclusive, of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. So we think that Kittitian Heights is going to define itself as a model resort development for this region,” he said.
