JetBlue, Cape Air Partner Up on Boston Alliance
JetBlue entered into an alliance with Cape Air for flights out of Boston, connecting JetBlue’s network to Cape Air’s flights to and from Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Provincetown and Hyannis, Mass.
Cape Air, which took flight in 1989, offers its service to those destinations on nine-passenger aircraft. JetBlue serves 20 destinations from Boston.
JetBlue will begin placing its code on Cape Air flights March 19. But JetBlue said it is taking direct bookings now and would begin selling the tickets on its Web site momentarily.
JetBlue said it expects the bookings to be available on all four GDS in which it participates by April. Cape Air said it will direct customers from its Web site to JetBlue’s site to book travel involving both airlines.
The alliance means customers can purchase a single ticket and don’t have to pick up their checked baggage between the JetBlue and Cape Air flights, which required them to go back through airport security. JetBlue and Cape Air operate in very close proximity at Boston Airport.
