La Quinta Opens First Honduras Hotel

US-based hotel giant La Quinta is expanding in the Caribbean Basin. The company announced the opening of its first LQ Hotel in Honduras’ capital of Tegucigalpa.

The property is the company’s first outside of the US, Canada and Mexico (it already has a property in Cancun). It includes 110 rooms in a 10-story building that includes a pool, fitness center and business center.

“We are very excited about the opening of this hotel and our entrance into Honduras, as it marks a key milestone in our expansion strategy into Latin America,” said Wayne Goldberg, Chief Executive Officer of La Quinta. “We have seen an increase of both business and leisure travelers in the region and as our current pipeline reflects, we see a strong opportunity for further expansion.”

The company’s expansion includes new properties planned in Colombia, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
