The Nayara hotel chain, based in Costa Rica, broke ground earlier this month on a luxury hotel in Orocovis in the Toro Verde Adventure Park in the Toro Verde mountain range of central Puerto Rico.

The Nayara Toro Verde Hotel project represents an important initiative for the economic development of the mountain region and Puerto Rico, according to Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Co.

“The first phase of construction represents a $2.5 million investment and will create between 50 and 60 jobs," she said. "In its operational phase, the hotel will employ between 50 and 60 staff."

Plans call for a total of 50 luxury cabins. The first phase will include 20 cabins, a lobby, common areas and a pool and is slated for completion in June. The second phase with the remaining 30 cabins will debut in January 2017.

The groundbreaking ceremony also included the launch of the Bull Maze Rope Course, a 60-foot by 60-foot area with 36 different activities that involve suspension bridges, rappelling lines, canopies and obstacles along the course.
