Jumeirah, a luxury hotel company, has signed a deal to manage a 300-room property in Bermuda. Construction is slated to begin as soon as permits are approved.

The Jumeirah Southlands Resort is slated to open in mid-2008 and will be located on a 37-acre site on the island’s South Shore, about 15 minutes from Hamilton and 30 minutes from the airport.

Approximately half the accommodations will be offered for fractional ownership, according to Jumeirah. A spa; 17 two-story suites; five restaurants and bars; a nightclub; a conference center; and an equestrian center also will be part property, which overlooks 1,700 feet of beach.

Dubai-based Jumeirah has stated that it intends to grow its hotel portfolio to 40 properties by the end of 2009.
