Marriott International has announced five new hotels for its Caribbean/Latin American region, spanning its upscale Marriott, moderate-priced Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn for extended-stay travelers brands. The hotels are located in Guayaquil, Ecuador; Paramaribo, Suriname; San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Cuzco, Peru, and Port of Spain, Trinidad.

“We are excited by the range of travel experiences these five properties will represent and that, with the exception of the Courtyard hotel in Suriname, all are additional properties in countries in which we are already operating, thereby enabling us to give local and long-distance travelers more opportunities to experience the Marriott International brand of lodging hospitality in these countries,” said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott International.

The Courtyard by Marriott Guayaquil, Ecuador will be located on Avenida Francisco de Orellana, Guayaquil’s main thoroughfare, crossing the city’s Central Business District. The Courtyard by Marriott San Pedro Sula will join Marriott International’s portfolio in 2010 under a franchise agreement with Corporacion Hotelera Internacional, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Grupo Poma of El Salvador.

The Cuzco Marriott Hotel will be managed by Marriott International under a long-term agreement with Inversiones La Rioja, S.A. The hotel will be located on a 14,000 square-foot site at the intersection of San Agustin and Ruinas, in the heart of Cuzco’s colonial district.

The Courtyard by Marriott Paramaribo in Suriname will join the Marriott International system under a franchise agreement with Twin Hotels N.V. It will be situated along the Suriname River on Anton Dragtenweg Street in northern Paramaribo.

The Marriott International will manage the Residence Inn by Marriott Port-of-Spain under an agreement reached with CAL Hospitality Investments Ltd. When opened, it will be the second Residence Inn by Marriott property for extended-stay travelers in Marriott’s Caribbean and Latin American region.

The Marriott International portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin American region currently consists of 51 hotels, offering 12,759 rooms spanning seven brands in 20 countries.
