Mexico’s RIU Emerald Bay to Open in May

RIU Emerald Bay, the first RIU resort in Mazatlan, Mexico, will open up its doors on May 29, 2009. The all-inclusive beachfront resort offers 716 rooms, four restaurants (three of which are a la carte), five bars, two swimming pools and three conference rooms.

Special opening rates start at $73 per person, per night, based on double occupancy, taxes and gratuities included. Special rates are valid May 29 through June 25, 2009. The hotel will offer an assorted variety of culinary choices at its main restaurant, which features a buffet and live cooking, its “Tabasco” Mexican restaurant, the “Bamboo” offering Asian dishes and “Las Gaviotas,” featuring tastes from the traditional American steakhouse.

The RIU Emerald Bay will also have three modern conference halls. The largest will measure 240 square meters and seat up to 108 people, while the second and third will each measure 120 square meters and seat 48. A wide array of water sports and entertainment will also be available at the new resort, which boasts a fully-equipped gymnasium and spa. Spa services are available at an additional charge.
