Montpelier Plantation, an 18-room Relais & Chateaux property, has incorporated more local elements including locally grown and raised products. While many spices and other ingredients of the cuisine served at the property’s two gourmet restaurants, the Mill and the Terrace, have been grown in its own gardens, Montpelier is now seeking to purchase as much of its food products as possible from local sources, from vegetables grown by neighboring farmers to the town fishermen’s catch of the day.

The owners have completely renovated one of the Junior Suites, transforming it into a more open, airy Garden Suite. With a décor reflective of the new Villa Suite, which debuted last year, and in keeping with the overall property, the ambiance of the Garden Suite is minimalist and organic.

A highlight is the refurbished bathroom with a large rain-head shower. Montpelier Plantation’s 2009 room rates inclusive of breakfast and afternoon tea start at $300 per room, per night.
