Puerto Vallarta escaped hurricane Kenna
Tourist facilities and stores in Puerto Vallarta –one of the landmark destinations in Mexico’s leisure industry- sustained few damages from hurricane Kenna that pounded the Mexican Pacific shoreline last Friday.
President Vicente Fox and his wife Maria Sahagun visited the zone and noticed over 90 percent of commercial and tourist centers were fortunately left unscathed. Mr. Fox announced his administration will provide support through housing projects and the generation of part-time jobs in those areas hit by the hurricane.
The presidential entourage flew in a chopper over Puerto Vallarta’s coastal area in the Mexican Pacific to take a bird’s view of the damages inflicted in some beachfront facilities.
Mr. Fox explained 95 percent of the zone is fully operational as far as services and tourism is concerned. “Things go changing and those affected places are going to be much prettier than they were before.”
In this respect, president Fox called on the mass media to promote Puerto Vallarta since 95 percent of the place is working on all six and “hotels and stores are tagging along.”
Hurricane Kenna touched down Friday on the Mexican bays in the western states of Jalisco and Nayarit, killing two, injuring 41 people and causing unfathomable material losses.
