Regent Hotels & Resorts will debut in the Caribbean on April 2 with the 72-suite The Regent Palms Turks and Caicos on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales.

The Carlson-owned Regent Hotels & Resorts assumed management of the resort, formerly The Palms, in September 2006. The property had had no management company since its February 2005 opening.

Since assuming management, Regent has increased staffing by 20 percent, to 70 employees; added a new concierge; upgraded the bed linens; and opened the island’s only gourmet barbecue kitchen on the beach.

When the renovated and expanded spa opens later this spring, it will feature six more treatment rooms, including a male-oriented room.

Regent Hotels & Resorts has eight properties worldwide and plans to open an additional eight hotels by 2008, including The Regent Bal Harbor, opening this year in Bal Harbor, Fla., and The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf, opening in 2008.
