Reopening Date Nears for Belize’s Kanantik Resort

Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort on the southern coast of Belize will reopen Nov. 1 following a five-month closure to renovate and upgrade facilities.

The resort offers 25 thatch-roofed oceanfront cabanas on 300 acres. Kanantik Reef is four miles from the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a 15,000-acre national park dedicated to the preservation of the jaguar.

The Mayan-style cabanas include handmade furnishings, Italian bath fixtures, walk-in showers and large decks. Facilities at Kanantik include a pool and beach with water sports. The restaurant has a wood-fire pizza oven and a large bar.

Several daytrip excursions offer canoeing, bird watching, hiking and outings to nearby Mayan ruins. The resort has a private airstrip served by Tropic Air from Belize Airport.
