The most veteran of RIU’s hotels in Jamaica, the Riu Tropical Bay, will be reopening its doors on December 10, 2008 as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay, after a remodeling project in which the company has invested more than 25 million dollars. This will be the first Jamaican Riu Palace hotel, RIU’s most luxurious and sophisticated range characterised by exquisite service and majestic architecture.

The hotel was closed for four months and is now reopening with new facilities and services, such as 24-hour room service. The reform work included the complete revamping of the 400 rooms, which are now more spacious junior suites, all of which feature flat screen TVs and safety deposit boxes for laptops, among other amenities such as hydromassage bathtubs and showers.

The Riu Palace Tropical Bay, which offers 24-Hour All Inclusive by RIU service, is also expanding its culinary offer with the incorporation of a Krystal restaurant, the modern fusion cuisine concept created by RIU professionals in 2007 especially for the chain’s Palace hotels. The culinary offer is complemented by Negril, the main restaurant, the Bloody Mary steak-house, Riminí, an Italian restaurant and Hakuchí, a Japanese restaurant.

The Riu Tropical Palace Bay was RIU’s first hotel in Jamaica when it opened its doors in Negril on the country’s western coast in March 2001. Seven years later, Jamaica is now one of RIU’s most important destinations, with four hotels that have a total of nearly 2,400 rooms and around 2,000 employees.

RIU is now completing its product range in Jamaica, where it has already opened ClubHotel Riu Negril and ClubHotel Riu Ocho Ríos, a line oriented to the family, young people and sports lovers, the recently inaugurated Riu Montego Bay, which belongs to the Classic line that caters to couples and families seeking peace and quiet, and finally, the new Riu Palace Tropical Bay, which has been created for our most discerning guests.
