RIU Yucatan Receiving $10 Million Renovation Beachfront Hotel in Mexico to Reopen in July 2005

The beachfront, all-inclusive RIU Yucatan, located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico will start a $10 million renovation this April. Rooms, restaurants and even the swimming pool will receive makeovers. Built in 1997, the hotel´s doors will reopen July 2005.

RIU Yucatan will look and feel like a new resort, stated Miguel Violan, Communications Manager at RIU Hotels and Resorts.

The RIU Yucatan renovation includes an update of the hotel´s 507 rooms and improvements to existing restaurant and public space, including the pool, bars, lounges and lobby areas. Guest rooms will offer new bedding and linens, plus upgraded bathrooms and showers.

Special emphasis will be placed on the redesign of the main restaurant, remodeling of the Bar Salon and the addition of the new Asian-themed a la carte restaurant. The hotel lobby will feature more shops. And, in addition to the existing pool, a new pool with a swim-up bar will be added to the many amenities of RIU Yucatan.

The recipient of many service awards and the first hotel the resort company built in Mexico, RIU Yucatan features Mexican “Hacienda” style architecture with more than 43,000 square yards of gardens with native plants and indigenous wildlife. The resort, located just ten minutes from the charming town of Playa del Carmen, is adjacent to its sister properties, RIU Playacar and RIU Tequila.
