Sandals and Beaches Resorts, known for enticing guests with spa treatments, gourmet dining, wedding and honeymoon celebrations, and family fun with Sesame Street characters, has expanded its tree planting program called “Watch Your Love Grow” to include participation by guests at all 16 properties.

The reforestation program, founded in 2000, is part of the company’s green initiative project aimed at safeguarding the delicate Caribbean ecosystem.

At Sandals Resorts, couples can take part in tree-planting activities either on property or off-site. Sandals’ staff selects indigenous or endangered trees, which guests are able to sponsor. Staff members identify each seedling that is planted, using the guest’s name and date of planting. Returning guests may visit their tree each time they are at the resort.

Guests at both Sandals and Beaches are alerted to the tree plantings by the entertainment staff and via the resorts’ daily activity boards. Those who wish to participate can contact the environmental manager at each property.

All Sandals and Beaches Resorts have received Green Globe 21 Certification, the worldwide benchmarking and certification program for sustainable travel and tourism.

Progressive green programs, which incorporate environmental protection measures into the management of each property, are implemented at each resort.

Environmental managers at every property oversee the programs, which reduce energy and water consumption; improve solid waste and wastewater disposal; prevent air pollution; protect terrestrial and marine life; and foster bonds with local communities.
