Spanish Judge Shelves Probe over Air Madrid’s Fake Sale of Plane Tickets

Spanish federal judge Fernando Grande Marlaska closed the file on investigations over Air Madrid’s President and CEO Jose Luis Carrillo and other top-brass execs from that airline for allegedly selling plane tickets after they knew the company was just about to be shut down. In his decision, Judge Carrillo stated he found no criminal evidence against the Air Madrid’s front office and discarded any need to press complementary charges. The decision is entitled to an appeal three days from now.

Judge Carrillo’s decision puts an end to the ongoing probe that started last December in the wake of increasing complaints filed by Spain’s Consumers and Users Organization that was nearly immediately backed up by such entities as Asgeco Confederacion, Fuci and Marcelo Amendola.

The other executives who were under investigation are acting president Julio Miguel Martinez, Sales Department chief Silvia Avelar Bravo, and Management director Juan Barjau Romero.
