St. Kitts & Nevis to Get Tourism Attention from France
The promotion of St. Kitts and Nevis in France is about to yield tangible results, as indicated by Dr. David Doyle, the Federation’s Honorary Counsel to the European country of France.
Dr. Doyle said that one of his priorities is the promotion of tourism for St. Kitts and Nevis. In this regard, he provided an update on a tourism mission that would be coming to the Federation.
“I met with Minister Ricky Skerritt, minister of tourism, to brief him on the visit of a leading French weekend magazine coming in October to do a nine-page feature on the virtues of St. Kitts and Nevis as a tourism destination and highlighting its former French colonial legacy, of which there are many, and to also highlight Brimstone Hill, Dieppe Bay, Fairview Manor, which was a former French military governor’s residence, and other sites of interest.
“They are also going to be visiting Kittitian Hill, Christophe Harbour, and undertaking a similar visit on Nevis to do an article that would reach four or five million readers in France and more when it is distributed in December.
“We are also looking at a range of other promotional activities for St. Kitts and Nevis, talking with French tour operators, with Air France, and we are promoting yachting to Christophe Harbour looking at the prospect of eventually organizing a French regatta to Christophe Harbour in 2015.”
Dr. Doyle is a former Irish diplomat with experiences involving bi-lateral and multi-lateral assignments, and who has facilitated dialogue between the Embassy of Eastern Caribbean States and members of the European Parliament. He is also the St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to UNESCO since 2013, but served as the Federation’s Permanent Delegate to the Organization since 2006.
