SuperClubs Boosts Latin America Showing with New Resorts

SuperClubs entered the Panama market with its recent groundbreaking on the 300-room Breezes Panama in Playa Blanca, marking the first development in Central America for the Jamaica-based all-inclusive resort firm.

The resort, scheduled to open in late 2008, is located on Panama’s south coast fronting the Pacific.

“Almost a decade ago, I set my sights on Latin America as a region ripe with potential for SuperClubs Resorts,” said John Issa, executive chairman. “We now have Breezes and Starfish resorts in Brazil and will double our Latin hotels with two additional Breezes properties in Panama and Brazil in the next 18 months.”

Work is progressing on the 300-room, 110-villa Breezes Buzios (Brazil), located approximately 100 miles from Rio de Janeiro and slated to open in early 2009. Facilities will include a spa, golf facilities, biking paths and miles of beachfront.

SuperClubs’ first Starfish resort in Latin America, the all-inclusive, 208-room Starfish Ilha de Santa Luzia opened in September on the island of Santa Luzia, with bridge access to the port city of Aracaju in northeastern Brazil.

The family-oriented resort is the second SuperClubs’ property in Brazil, following the 2000 opening of Breezes Costa Do Sauipe in Bahia.

While Latin America will continue to be “a top-growth region for us for many years to come, SuperClubs has completed a number of upgrades on our Caribbean resorts in time for winter season,” according to Issa.
