Two Katrina-Damaged W Hotels Reopen in New Orleans

W Hotels Worldwide has reopened its two New Orleans hotels –the 423-room W New Orleans and the 98-room W French Quarter- that were shuttered in the wake of Hurricane Katrina last fall.

The chain said both hotels suffered wind and water damage to guest rooms, public space and corridors. However, after six months of reconstruction, the hotels have been restored to their original state.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts, parent company of W Hotels, said its other properties in the area, the Four Points by Sheraton New Orleans Airport and the Sheraton New Orleans, have been providing housing for police officers, fire department and emergency medical personnel; government officials; Red Cross and Salvation Army volunteers and staffers; and other local officials as the Crescent City continues to recover from the Katrina´s aftermath.
