American hotel giant Starwood is forging plans to construct a 350-room luxury hotel on the Caribbean island of Curacao. The Westin Curacao Resort & Casino is expected to reach completion by 2008.

Reports suggest that Starwood will operate the property, pumping an unspecified amount of money into the $100 million construction. The local government will assist with a further $25 million, they will also be responsible for the allocation of a long-term ground lease.

The project will be developed on Jan Thiel Bay, on the southern tip of Curacao, one the loveliest parts of the island.
