JetBlue Opens Aruba Route

JetBlue Airways begins new nonstop service between the island of Aruba and its home base, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The daily flight will increase to seven the number of Caribbean/Atlantic destinations served by the low-cost airline.

Swiss Adds New Flight to Chile

Swiss International Airlines announced that it will add a new frequency to the five weekly flights it operates between Santiago de Chile and Europe beginning in late September. A spokesperson for Lufthansa and Swiss operations in Chile said the new flight will give passengers the option of a stopover in Brazil’s Sao Paulo and fly on to Zurich in Switzerland.

Taca, Aerolineas Argentinas Step Up Flights to Peru

Taca has strengthened operations in Lima by resuming its daily flights to the cities of La Paz and Santa Cruz, in Bolivia. The flights are being carried out with an Airbus A320 with capacity for 150 passengers. Aerolineas Argentinas, for its part, is adding frequencies to Buenos Aires. Beginning in October, Aerolineas Argentinas will offer nine weekly frequencies in its Lima-Buenos Aires route to be operated with a Boeing 737-500.

Iberia to Double Capacity on Spain-Brazil Routes

As of September 20, Spanish air carrier Iberia will make a total of 17 return flights a week between Madrid and Brazil, further strengthening its position on Europe-Latin America routes. In the past six months, Iberia has doubled its seat supply on Spain-Brazil routes, adding flights and using larger aircraft.

Delta Vacations Adds Third Dominican Republic Destination

Delta Vacations expanded its Caribbean product line with packages to 13 resorts in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, effective from October 25 with travel commencing on December 15. The launch happens together with the start of Delta´s daily nonstop service between Atlanta and Puerto Plata.
