Marriott International announced today that the Finesterre Suites in Panama City, Panama, will be converted to a Marriott Executive Apartments extended stay hotel in early 2012. The 126-unit Marriott Executive Apartments Finisterre - Panama, will be operated by Marriott under Grupo Hotelero Finisterre S.A.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Hilton Bogota - Hilton Worldwide’s first managed full-service hotel in Bogota, Colombia. The opening of Hilton Bogota marks the anticipated return of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to this thriving capital city, and serves as a reminder of Hilton Worldwide’s strategy to expand the portfolio throughout Latin America. It joins Hilton Cartagena as the second Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Colombia.

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced that the city will reach a record 90,000 hotel rooms by year’s end, representing a 24 percent increase since 2006. More than 7,000 rooms are in the pipeline that will add to the city’s hotel inventory, with an average 40 percent of new openings taking place in boroughs other than Manhattan, including in Long Island City, Queens.

The Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Hotel in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, officially reopened following a $48 million renovation that had closed the hotel in May. The renovations include new Caribbean décor and bedding in the main building’s 290 guest rooms, plus an expanded pool area, the new Lazule Sea Spa, a new fitness center and seven separate dining venues.
