STR Global reported a mostly positive picture of hotel performance across South America after launching data on several new markets across the continent. Year-on-year revenue per available room (RevPAR) for year-to-date August 2011 has increased by 26.8 percent to $95, mainly due to increases in average daily rate (ADR), up 21 percent to $143.

The Meliá de Mar Hotel and Sol Cala Blanca Hotel, both in Majorca; the Sol Ibiza Hotel; and Sol Menorca Hotel have all exceeded expectations with improved occupancy and room rates thanks to the new adults-only hotel experience for guests over 15 years of age.
