Turks and Caicos’ Grace Bay Club Unveils New Infinity Pool, Bar
The Turks and Caicos’ Grace Bay Club is completing a $1 million renovation with the installation of an adults-only, glass-edge, infinity pool and bar. The new pool will be anchored by a 12-foot glass wall facing Grace Bay, creating an aquarium-type experience.
IHG, whose roots in the Colombian hotel market stretch almost six decades, has signed a 15-year management agreement for a new-build, full-service Holiday Inn in Cartagena, Colombia. The Holiday Inn Cartagena, scheduled to open in June 2011, will be IHG’s seventh property in Colombia, and the 46th Holiday Inn brand property within the company’s Latin America & Caribbean region (38 open, eight under construction). IHG currently has two Holiday Inn hotels in Colombia: the Holiday Inn Express Bogota and the Holiday Inn Express Medellin.
With an emotive gala, Hilton Buenos Aires celebrated ten years of success in Argentina. Sandals Resorts International has partnered with the Ministries of Tourism and Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade to offer the recently rescued Chilean miners, rescue workers and their spouses a relaxing Jamaican vacation. Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett, made the announcement at a press conference in Montego Bay yesterday as he updated the media on the island’s readiness for Caribbean Marketplace to be held January 16-18, next year, at the newly built Montego Bay Convention Center.
Spanish hotel and resort operator Sol Meliá will open the ME London as the sixth “experience-based,” personality hotel to the ME Hotels brand. Formerly the site of the City Bank building, ME London will be designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, making the hotel an icon of the London hotel industry for both business and leisure travelers. The property’s announcement comes on the heels of ME Hotel’s May 2010 groundbreaking of ME Vienna.
