The Barcelo Bavaro Caribe Beach Deluxe is slated to open in December, completing the second phase of a renovation of the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort complex in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The 180-suite hotel will be geared to families.
As Marriott’s 88 timeshare units on St. Kitts near completion, the hotel company announced plans for the St. Kitts Marriott Condominiums. The development will be built on 11 acres of the former Angelus Resort, next to the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Beach Club.

RIU Hotels and Resorts opened its latest property in Mexico, the 716-room Hotel RIU Emerald Bay, on May 29. The San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino was recognized by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) as the “Best of the Best,” designating it as the best hotel in Puerto Rico in 2008 at the 5th Annual Quality Awards Ceremony.
