Hilton Hotels Corporation Announces Major Expansion Plans to Quadruple its Caribbean, Latin America Portfolio
Hilton Hotels Corporation today announces expansion plans to quadruple its presence in the Caribbean and Latin America by adding 150 new hotels to the portfolio over the next five years. The company also reveals a new development structure, made up of six dedicated staff, to lead the efforts in achieving this objective. This news underscores the company’s stated goal to add 1,000 hotels to its international portfolio in ten years.
A $500 million, mixed-use resort development is planned for Real del Monte, just north of Mexico City. The project is the result of a partnership between Washington-based Federal Development LLC and Mexico City-based Grupo del Blanco.
Hermitage Bay resort in Antigua, which opened this spring, is already looking to add additional suites by next year, Travel Agent learned Friday. We met with owner Andy Thesen, who told us he would like to add about five more suites in addition to the existing 25. He said initial plans would call for at least one new suite for each of the resort’s three categories.
Puerto Rico’s El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa opened its doors on Nov. 4, 1968. Today, with a recent $120 million, property-wide renovation that features the unveiling of its new Coqui Water Park, a complete redesign and refurbishment to all guestrooms, an outpost of famed NYC steakhouse Strip House and the addition of the 21,090-square-foot Grand Atlantic Ballroom, the hotel is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the Celebrating 40 package.
Calabash Cove Resort, a boutique property, will open in mid-December on St. Lucia’s northwest coast.
The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, located on Nassau, Bahamas, is celebrating its one-year anniversary by offering guests special room rates, upgrades and amenities.
