Accor is targeting the Pearl River Delta, aiming to double its hotel presence in China´s southern economic power-zone. At the start of 2006, Accor operated seven hotels in the Pearl River Delta –in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Dongguan. By 2008 this is likely to increase to at least a dozen establishments, with major new Sofitel, Novotel and Ibis projects under development at that time.
The Palmyra Resort & Spa at Rose Hall has proven that the renaissance on Jamaica´s Gold Coast is in full swing, as reservation holders from around the world flew into Montego Bay, Jamaica, May 5-6 to attend its Priority Selection Event held at the neighboring Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort. The premier luxury beachfront community reached $100 million in sales for its high-end villas and residences, resulting in the complete sellout of the community´s Sabal Palm building and a significant number of residences in the Silver Palm building from the development´s first phase offering.
The Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort has opened as a brand new, luxurious resort, following a $40 million renovation. The Hilton Cancun´s beach was one of the first to be completely restored following Hurricane Wilma and now has an additional 150 feet of the Caribbean´s famous soft, white sand.
A host of dignitaries gathered in Mexico´s Punta Mita to celebrate the groundbreaking for St. Regis Resort. Scheduled to open in late 2007, the ultra-deluxe resort is a joint venture of Ideurban Consultores, one of Mexico´s largest private development and construction companies, and DINE, master developer of Punta Mita.
Occidental Hotels & Resorts is kicking off a new travel agent incentive for its Allegro resorts´ brand. Retailers can register at the company´s website (www.occidentalhotels.info) and input their bookings for the Allegro Cozumel, Allegro Nuevo Vallarta, Allegro Papagayo, Allegro Playacar, Allegro Playa Dorada and Allegro Punta Cana. Daily cash prizes of $500 will be awarded to the agent with the highest number of bookings each day from now through June 30.
Hilton Latin America continues to set a standard for growth, with a $10 million makeover, new hotels in Nicaragua and Honduras, and development plans in Argentina. Major renovations are being unveiled at Hilton Buenos Aires, Hilton Cartagena, Hilton Colon Guayaquil and Hilton Colon Quito.
