Eurostars Hotels has opened the Eurostars Angli, an establishment which is the sixth in the chain in Barcelona, and is owned by the Alsina Group, an established company in the formwork and construction sector and forms part of the Eurostars Hotels portfolio on a lease basis. Amancio Lopez Seijas, President of the Hotusa Group, considers that although Eurostars Hotels already has an extensive range on offer in the Catalan capital, “its characteristics mean that the new hotel fills a gap in the market that until now we had not covered and it is the perfect complement to our other establishments”.
The Ritz-Carlton is planning to open an exclusive resort on Rose Island in the Bahamas, four miles off Nassau and Paradise Island in 2009. The Ritz-Carlton Rose Island will feature a sheltered marina to dock luxury boats and yachts. When it is finally completed, the 230 acre site is expected to provide a collection of more than 400 dwellings in the scenic setting.
Ladera Resort on St Lucia has been voted “Most Excellent Hotel” in the Caribbean Islands by Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotel Guide. This is a second top award for the resort in the past few months. The intimate, 25-room, open-air hotel overlooking the St. Lucian rainforest and Caribbean Sea, was voted Best of the Best in the world by American readers of Condé Nast Traveler at the end of 2005.
InterContinental Hotels will break ground on the new Holiday Inn Express in Quito, Ecuador. This property will mark the 18th country in which InterContinental has a presence in Latin America, and it is the 13th Holiday Inn Express in the region, bringing the total of number of Holiday Inn hotels to 30, and the total number of hotels to 58, including the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites brands.
Divi Resorts broke ground in early February on a new development at Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort in Aruba that will more than double the size of the resort, adding 140 suites to the existing 101 units. The new studios, one-bedroom suites, and two- and three-bedroom penthouses will be housed in four eight-story buildings and will feature fully equipped kitchens with convection oven, gas stovetop, microwave, and full-size refrigerators.
The InterContinental Hotels Group has signed contracts to manage six new hotels, representing more than 4,500 rooms in China. Chengdu International Exhibition & Convention Group is the owner of all six hotels, which are located in Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou in China´s Sichuan province.
