Gate 1 Travel kicked off its 2009 travel season with the debut of three new destinations: Alaska, Iceland and Tunisia. All three tours offer a small-group experience, with a maximum of 20 people per departure.
Key Tours International, a tour operator specializing in Europe and the Mediterranean region, is offering reduced rate travel agent fam trips to Turkey. The 10-day Best of Turkey visits Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Hierapolis, Ephesus, Virgin Mary’s house, and Kusadasi. Departure 1 is Nov. 7-16. Departure 2 is Nov. 14-23.
Green Globe International, Inc., which owns the Green Globe brand, the premier international green brand, released the September 2008 edition of the company’s investor newsletter, which reviews the recent return of management from meetings in the Caribbean region related to the expected signings of comprehensive Sustainability and Carbon Neutrality Plan for Tourism Destinations.
Expansion at Jamaica’s airports in Montego Bay and Kingston is proceeding on course, according to the Jamaica Tourist Board.
The Cairns Fertility Centre in Western Australia has combined their clinic with a five-star luxury resort, complete with masseurs and a spa. The clinic specializes in assisted reproduction and in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, and plans to take in patients early next year. Its location near the Great Barrier Reef will help boost medical tourism, which is just getting off the ground in Australia.
Figures released by the Saxony Statistics Office put the number of visitors arriving in the German city of Leipzig and staying for at least one night in the first six months of 2008 at 482,199, up from 467,074 in 2007. This marks a 3.4 percent rise.
