Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Wykeham McNeill says Montego Bay, St James, needs some iconic attractions if it is to rediscover the glory days when the western city was the undisputed tourism capital of the Caribbean.

On the eve of Trinidad & Tobago’s 50th anniversary as an independent nation, the Tobago House of Assembly has launched an intensive international campaign designed to promote the island as the premier Caribbean destination for leisure-seekers in Europe and North America.

The latest numbers from the US government’s Office of Travel and Tourism Industry (OTTI) show that overseas travel by Americans is growing in in all of the eight regions it has identified, with Central America, Middle East and Asia growing the fastest. 23 million US citizens traveled abroad during the first five months of 2012.
