Argentina and Chile are jointly promoting their countries in a round of events in Australia with the purpose of drawing more Aussie tourists. The promotion coincides with the recent announcement of Australia’s flag carrier Qantas direct flights to Santiago de Chile.

St. Kitts and Nevis’ Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Mrs. Patricia Martin was among Eastern Caribbean tourism officials who have agreed on a common tourism policy for the nine-nation Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) that will come into effect on October 1, 2011.

In a recent interview, Secretary of Tourism Gloria Guevara Manzo vouched for the safety of tourist destinations in Mexico, and encouraged visitors from the United States to enjoy the best of what Mexico has to offer. According to Guevara, out of more than 2,500 counties in Mexico only 80 are prone to violence.

The United States Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is supporting efforts to promote the music, cuisine and culture of the territory throughout the United States and it did it at its annual Caribbean Cultural Fest last Sunday, September 4 at New York's Jackie Robinson Park in Manhattan.

The town of Ocho Rios in St. Ann is to benefit from major infrastructural development, costing some $1.8 billion, which is expected to see the establishment of new and exciting tourism products, over a five year period.
