The Virtual Getaway: Venice, Italy

Venice from the air

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Venice was one of Italy’s most popular (and most crowded) destinations. The upside of the empty streets and canals is that the city is able to recover from years of overtourism. Dolphins are swimming in the harbour for the first time in years.

That said, many of you are probably disappointed that you cannot visit this Italian gem right now, but thanks to technology, you can take a gondola ride through the canals of Venice from the comfort of your couch.

The Virtual Getaway by Caribbean News Digital has already jumped on the boat and is ready for the 360-degree ride. Actually, two rides: one of the canals and another one with views of the St. Mark’s Basilica.

We remind you that even though these are virtual tours in video format, you can click on the arrows on the upper left side of the screen to make the 360-degree views work.
