Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Hotel Brings $225 Million Investment to Jamaica

Phase 1 of the new 5-star resort facility, Iberostar Rose Hall Beach hotel was officially opened last week by Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding.

The second phase of the $225 million investment is expected to be completed by May of next year and the third phase by November of 2008. When completed, this will add just 1,000 more hotel rooms to Jamaica’s tourism capital, Montego Bay.

Addressing the official opening ceremony, Prime Minister Bruce Golding noted that Iberostar is one of several Spanish Hotel empires which have chosen to make substantial investments in Jamaica. He said that when aggregated, the projects already completed, under construction or in an advanced planning stage, total 8,351 rooms representing a total investment of over $1 billion dollars.

In congratulating Iberostar, Mr. Golding said his government was delighted that this company had chosen to make Jamaica on of its investment locations. He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister, P.J. Patterson, who he said pioneered this new investment thrust and to Spanish Ambassador Jesus Silva, who according to Mr. Golding, has been tireless in his efforts to promote Spanish Investments in Jamaica.
