Saint Lucia Ministry of Tourism Joins ICTP

The International Coalition of Tourism Partners announced that the Ministry of Tourism of Saint Lucia has joined as a member.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism of Saint Lucia I am happy to have Saint Lucia included among the members of ICTP,” said Nigel A. M. Mitchell, Director of the Saint Lucia Tourism Development Program, Ministry of Tourism, “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said: “We are pleased to welcome Saint Lucia to our membership. The soundness of their tourism development along with their desire to work with other destinations is a real plus for our coalition and its members.”

The Director of Saint Lucia Tourism continued: “Here in Saint Lucia, the Ministry of Tourism is committed to the sustainable development of tourism and is keen to partner with other destinations with similar competitiveness, service, and product excellence ambitions.

“As an Association of Caribbean States Member, Saint Lucia has signed on to the establishment of the c ‘as a geographically-determined cultural, socio-economic, and biologically-rich and diverse unit, in which tourism development is based on the principles of sustainability, integration, cooperation and consensus.’

“Saint Lucia is also the perfect destination, for the traveler who is after romance, rejuvenation, or adventure. A genuine, natural landscape of gorgeous palm-fringed beaches, miles of unspoiled rainforest, and the majestic Piton Mountains, are sure to indulge every taste.

“Natural waterfalls, breath-taking views, friendly locals, and authentic culture impress the most traveled individuals for a holiday with lasting memories.”

Professor Geoffrey Lipman, ICTP President, said: “The Caribbean has long been in the forefront of Green Growth transformation and it is also one of the most vulnerable to the challenge of climate change. Saint Lucia has always been a leadership voice in this shift. We will be adding our strong support to the work of the Association of Caribbean States to secure broad-scale recognition of the Sustainable Tourism Zone of the Caribbean (STZC) and of the necessary international funding.”
