Venezuela opens tourist lines to local, foreign investors
A strategic scheme outlining an assortment of tourist development lines has been unveiled to both local and foreign businesspeople eager to pour funds into Venezuela’s hospitality industry, said Wilmar Castro Soteldo, the country’s minister of production and trade.
The Tourism Act –he added- opens new windows of development opportunities and gives investors lots of incentives.
The Venezuelan high-ranking official explained a number of aggressive campaigns aimed at marketing the country’s tourist product in such markets as Germany, France and South America are currently going on and called for bringing in top-quality tourism to the country with special emphasis on cultural values.
Venezuela has set out to become a major tourist destination for birdwatchers, adventure seekers, ecological tourism buffs, event goers and culture vultures. In Mr. Castro’s opinion, local travelers could nick as many as 13 million overnight stays every year.
