Villa Clara got some attention at the 2003 FIHAV
Cuba’s central province of Villa Clara got a chance to show off its business opportunities for foreign investment during the recently concluded 21st edition of the Havana International Fair.
The local leisure industry laid out its own refurbishment schemes for the Comercio Hotel in Caibarien and the Barcelona Resort in Remedios in an effort to grab some funds for getting those projects going. On the other hand, the province’s mid-sized and small industries requested technological support for the assembly and manufacturing of a number of items.
The sugar industry, for its part, cried out for help to streamline some of its mills and distilleries with a view to raise the making of rum and sugarcane spirits. Other local companies underscored their need to increase the exploitation of oil wells and deposits.
The local farming, fishing, metal and raw materials industries also exposed their possibilities to take on new projects through joint ventures and foreign partnerships.
The fair panned out to be the right setting to call for the Second Central Tradeshow to be held in Villa Clara next March and portray the future event as just one more chance to gather corporate Cuba and foreign companies interested in investing money in the country, mainly in the central region.
During the ceremony, Cuba’s vice minister of Foreign Investment and Cooperation, Ernesto Senti, thanked Villa Clara’s entrepreneurs for attending the fair because their presence served as an opportunity to showcase the development of Cuba’s territories other than the nation’s capital and step up potential business operations for a province blessed with a frenzied economic activity and great socioeconomic maturity.
