Occidental Hotels & Resorts and Estelar Hotels formed a marketing partnership involving five hotels from each chain.

The alliance is designed for the partners to increase visibility in markets where they currently do not have a presence.

The 178-room Magdalena Grand in Tobago has assumed management of the 18-hole Tobago Plantations Golf Course and will refurbish it for $2 million.

The course will be operated as part of the newly named Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort and will officially open on Dec. 1.

Global business and leisure hotel bookings remained steady in October according to Pegasus Solutions. As bookings continued a steady year-to-date climb for both channels, rates paid improved slightly over prior year.

The expansion of the Frigate Bay Beach Hotel in St Kitts will include the addition of 12 new rooms when it reopens in January 2015.

The property, which closed Nov. 1 to begin its renovation, would have 76 rooms upon completion, according to a spokesman.
