The Meridian Club, a private island retreat on Pine Cay, Turks and Caicos, is fishing for business. The luxury 13-suite beachfront resort, which reopens Nov. 1 after its annual three-month closure for upgrades, offers a special add-on for guests booking a fishing excursion this winter.

STR Global reports that the Americas region posted positive results in the three key hotel performance metrics when reported in U.S. dollars during September. When compared to September 2012, the Americas region reported a 0.3 percent monthly increase in occupancy.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) unveiled the 143-room Holiday Inn Mexico Buenavista in Mexico City. The property is the fifth hotel opening for IHG in Mexico this year.

The property, located at Mariano Azuela 12, is in close proximity to The Chopo Museum and the Palace of Fine Arts in downtown Mexico City. A second building will open next year that will include meetings rooms for up to 300 people.

InterContinental Hotels Group has sought further growth in Russia and the CIS with the signing of three hotels in the region: Holiday Inn Express Naberezhnye-Chelny, Holiday Inn Express Samara and Staybridge Suite Baku.

The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba, the hotel company's newest Caribbean resort, opens Nov. 22 on the island's Palm Beach, its seventh in the Caribbean and Mexico region and its first since the debut of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in Puerto Rico in December 2012.
