Belize and the Cayman Islands are seeing significant improvements in tourism from Europe, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The Cayman Islands received 15,466 European tourists in the first five months of 2014, up 29.8 from 2013.

The Southern Caribbean island of Curacao has launched its “Curacao: Escape the Bored-Room” campaign to reward meeting and incentive planners for booking groups with select resorts and destination management companies on the island.

Tobago received a record number of visitors in 2013 — more than 1 million, and a large portion of those visitors came from nearby Trinidad. According to new data from Tobago’s government, more than half a million Trinidadians spent more than $18.3 million USD during their stays.

A boom in ecotourism has already made it the fastest-growing segment and the global tourism market’s most dynamic sector. This movement appeared at the end of the 1980's and has attracted such much interest at the international level, that the UN designated 2002 as “Eco-tourism year.”
