Uber to Integrate Blade’s Electric Air Taxis into Its App

Joby Aviation, a leading electric air taxi company, and Uber Technologies have announced a new partnership to incorporate Blade’s air mobility services into the Uber app starting next year. The move marks a major step toward expanding sustainable urban air transportation.
The two companies have been collaborating since 2019 on urban air mobility solutions. In 2020, Joby acquired Uber Elevate, Uber’s aerial ridesharing division, in a deal that included a $75 million investment from Uber into Joby.
In August, Joby further expanded its reach by acquiring Blade’s passenger business, which carried more than 50,000 passengers in 2024 across metropolitan routes in New York and Southern Europe. This integration will allow Uber to offer on-demand air transfers within its global mobility ecosystem.
“Integrating Blade into the Uber app is the natural next step in our partnership and lays the groundwork for introducing our quiet, zero-emission aircraft in the coming years,” said JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation.
Andrew Macdonald, President and COO of Uber, added: “From the very beginning, Uber has believed in advanced air mobility as a way to deliver safe, quiet, and sustainable transport in cities. Together with Joby, the industry leader, we’re excited to bring the next generation of travel closer to our customers.”
The alliance aims to accelerate the rollout of electric air taxis in strategic markets including Dubai, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom, and Japan, leveraging Blade’s established infrastructure. The goal is to combine Uber’s global scale with Blade’s proven operational network to transform how passengers move through congested urban environments.
With this integration, Uber reinforces its vision of becoming a fully integrated mobility platform, while Joby positions itself at the forefront of an emerging sector that promises to redefine urban travel in some of the world’s most dynamic cities.
